Everything about the weekend was a dream come true from having all of our closest friends and family in our favorite place to officially making it official. It was truly a fairy tale weekend.
The wedding day began with makeup and hair for the ladies at my parents Aspen home where we enjoyed champagne and a catered lunch. My something borrowed was a pair of earrings from my dear friend and incredible jewelry designer. My something old was a diamond dog pin given to me by my Godmother. It was really special to have such meaning in each item I wore that day.
As mentioned previously, my wedding dress was custom, but it was extra special that no one had seen my gown until that morning. My parents and bridesmaids were stunned when it came out, especially when they saw the 15 foot train!
The guys had lunch at The Little Nell and then got ready there in Carey’s hotel suite. Then we all took the gondola up Aspen Mountain to the wedding destination. A string quartet played setting the ideal scene at the top of the mountain. Carey and I decided to have my cousin Mark perform the ceremony and then had Carey’s Uncle Paul come up to do the Seven Blessings and break the glass which is traditional for Jewish ceremonies. Guests were both laughing and tearing up at moments throughout the ceremony.
Following the ceremony, we enjoyed views, drinks and hor d’oeuvres at the Aspen Mountain Club which is next door to the Wedding deck making it all extremely convenient. Guests found dinner seating assignments on a greenery wall with marble plaques with each name written in calligraphy. Following the cocktail hour, we all moved next door to the reception venue. Greenery walls surrounded the room and a warm fire greeted guests along with a bar with a custom neon sign we had made that read “Crazy Love” which also was the song Carey and I chose as our first dance song. Once guests were seated for dinner, the speeches began. We had both of my parents speak as well as Corina, my Maid of Honor, and JT, Carey’s Best Man.
The speeches were off the charts hilarious! We then had our first dances and cut the cake. The bride’s cake was a delicious white and caramel cream cake while Carey’s chocolate cake was a cute Aspen bear holding a pot of gummy bears because Carey is known for his crazy addiction gummy bears. Following the cake cutting, I changed into my next gown, another custom dress made by Dennis Basso. I came back to the Hora beginning, which is a common dance that kicks of Jewish receptions.
